W2K & CD ROM

I have W2K w/sp#4, and would like help on this problem.

My CD ROM drive always is recognized in my BIOS.

When I boot up with CD in its drive, the drive letter appears in Windows Explorer, and I can
read the contents of the CD. The CDROM shows up in Device Manager.

If I boot up without a CD in the drive, Windows Explorer cannot see my CD ROM drive, and of
course I cannot read the cd. Device Manager does not show any CDROM drive.

I found my answer. But in case someone else has this problem, here is the MS KB site which has
the answer.
