W2K Adv Server Memory Problems

C

Charles Tooraen

Sirs,

I have W2K Adv Server with sp4 running on a P4 2.4 with
1gb of pc2100 memoroy (non Ecc) and have sp4 on it. The
server also runs SQL Server and has sp3 on it. About once
a week the server will lock up and loose its connections
to the network. You still have console access, but you
can see where SQL has also quit running and when you
attempt to open anything, even "My Computer" the system
gives you and error that says "Not enough free memory to
perform requested operation." This system locks up when
there is no one on the network so there is no load on it.
It is behind a firewall and is not configured for the
internet. The server is setup for only one application,
and this is usually not running when this lock up occurs.
Any ideas????

Best regards,

Hi,

please stop your SQL server services & monitor for a while,
if it happen again, your systems may get problems
it's reasonable on DB systems about lack of memory, maybe
cause by too many connections & the design of your
applications could release memory or not. does your
programs call windows API(coded by VB,C,C++,java) or
uses .NET language with .NET Framework installed?
