Does anyone know how to get a driver for this webcam that has a digital
signature from MS that it is safe for XP? The one currently available on the
MS website gives a warning that it is not digitally signed when you run it.

Hello,

Is this the one you downloaded from Microsoft's site?
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/d...CE&type=Webcams&name=VX3000&os=XP_SP2&lang=en

If so, ignoring the warning and installing it should be fine. You can always
uninstall it if it gives problems. If you want to be more cautious, do a
System Restore point before installation. See
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948247 on how to do this.

Many drivers for many devices are not digitaly signed. Most installers tell
you to expect this warning and to ignore it during the install. Just becaues
the driver is not signed doesn't mean it's the wrong driver, or is "bad" or
there is a "better" one. Use the driver that is provided on the website of
the maker of the device. It should work just fine.

If it is from the Microsoft Hardware web site, don't worry about digital
signatures. Press on 'continue anyway' if you want to be able to use your
webcam..

Thank you all for the information. I am very wary these days because I just
got a new computer and spend hours loading all of my applications. I then
updated it from the MS site and it crashed (i.e. windows wouldn't come up
anymore). I had someone fix it by removing a driver that was causing the
problem and apparently installed when I ran the update.
