VPN ??

If I want to connect to another computer from my home
computer or from another computer to my home computer.
How do I set it up? Do I use VPN? I have someone in Italy
who needs a file that is too big to send via email so I
thought we could connect computer to computer. What is
the best way to go?

If you only have to do this once, or infrequently, and you're not
computer savvy, you might want to use a service like WhaleMail at
http://www.whalemail.com/ (caveat: I haven't ever used them so can't
give you a first-hand review). VPN stands for "virtual private network"
and it creates an encrypted "tunnel" so you can send data from one
computer to another while insuring that if the data is intercepted it
will be useless to the thief. Or you could ftp the file to an ftp
server to which your recipient has access.
