VPN wireless

I have a router with a vpn endpoint and a wireless AP connected to the
router. Can I configure my XP pro wireless laptop to be a vpn client or do I
a vpn client software?

Thanks

Why do you want to VPN to your own router on your own LAN?

Is that a prereq to getting an answer?

Hi all,
This is exactly what I do - I use PPTP VPN over an unsecured wireless
network - it saves having to set up encryption keys on the wireless, and the
wireless bit seems to go better (ie connets quicker and is more reliable)
without encryption. My problem with it is that when the laptops wake from
standby I can see no way to automatically fire up the VPN connection. Does
anyone know how to run a script when a PC wakes (from standby or hibernate)?

cheers

So that means that anyone within 400' of your wireless unit could also
be using your network.

You get the idea. But its firewalled, so only people with VPN set up can
get to the important bits. Everyone else can just see the internet

I work in a school, and we already have ~50 access points and ~200
wireless devices in use. On the assumption that in 5 years' time,
everyone (2000+ students) will all want wireless access, I don't fancy
my chances at (1) keeping a shared key private, or (2) changing it if it
gets out

that make sense?
