Is it possible to set up the built in vpn in win2k so that an XP Pro machine
can conncet to it? What I would like is my office computer (win2k Pro) to
accept one inbound vpn L2TP connection from my xp machine Is this possible
or must I have win2k server in my office?

Thanks for the help

create a new connection and select " advanced features" enable incoming
connections and go through the wizard
you will find a more detailed steps in the win2k pro help
look for " enabling VPN incoming connections"

I will try to look for a document for you

Note: This is only pptp and not L2TP, I doubt you can have an XP vpn with
L2TP
So, yes, you can accept an inbound PPTP connection, but not L2TP

Thank you very much guys for the information!

I have just one more question. What ports do I need to open on my firewall
for the vpn so that I may connect?

Thanks again

for PPTP VPN uses TCP Port 1723, IP Protocol 47 (GRE)
for L2TP: UDP Port 1701;
for IPSec: Pass protocol 50 and 51.

let me know if you need more help
