VPN using XP Home

Can two computers with XP Home use Microsoft VPN or do we really need a VPN
physical server (like 2003) ?

I would like to map a drive on one system so a backup program can save some
files to an off-site computer. The ISP is Time Warner, RoadRunner cable
modem service. The IP's are static so that's not a problem. My
understanding is that I need to open port 1723 for PPTP or ports 500 & 4500
for L2TP/IPSec. There is a NAT router at one end only (business location)
and the other is a straight cable-modem connection.

I was looking for some backup software that could navigate through this but
found nothing (except Enterprise level stuff and big $$). So by mapping a
drive, using BackUpMyPC (Stomp) I can automate the whole process without
having any user intervention - provided I can get a VPN connection between
the two.

If not - any other ideas? Right now it's being done manually using UltraVNC
with FTP but haven't found a way to automate that and I'm lousy at writing
scripts.

Thank you for any assistance or suggestions you may have,

Bob
