VPN unable to connect (error 721)

Hi,

Wonder if anyone encountered this problem. I am currently behind a NAT
router. Set up a vpn server within the network base on PPTP using
EAP-RADIUS authentication.

Everything work out fine when I tested the vpn connection within the
network. However, I would encounter error 721 (The remote computer did not
respond) when I tried to connect from outside of the network using a domain
name. I have set pass thru for port 1723 and 47 (both TCP and UDP) at my
router. All inbound filter and out bound filters are correctly set.

Anyone with any leads on how I can work around this problem?

Regards,
Winston

Port 47 has no effect on VPN. What you must have for a PPTP connection to
work is GRE, which is IP protocol 47. If your router or anything else in the
path blocks GRE, your connection will fail. This is because the encrypted
VPN data is transported across the Internet inside a packet with a GRE
header.
