VPN pass-through, what dose it mean?

I purchased a wireless router that support "vpn pass-through", as it
describe.

However, I don't quite understand the definition of VPN pass-through. Is it
different from VPN server itself? I set up the route with my home network,
and want to vpn into my home network from work office.

Do i still need to install an actual VPN server in one of my server at home,
and enable the router's "VPN pass-through" service so when i connect from
office, it pass-through the router and access the VPN server installed in
one of my network server, then be able to talk to the rest of my home
network computers?

Thank you for your explanation.
