VPN not available after 2000 reinstall

Just reinstalled 2000 Pro and VPN option grayed out in
wizard. Cannot find how to install VPN.

I get the same problem when reinstalling Win2k and then SP3. VPN option
comes back when I install SP4, but other general issues occur ( thus, I'd
like to stay on SP3 if possible). I'd be interested to know how you resolve
this prob.

I tried installing the Hotfix listed under 818043. Didnt fix my problem.

Finally what did it was Registry fix listed in Q329441
(http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=329441). Although the fix is for XP,
the symptoms were the same for me. In desperation, did the registry edit
as per notes at the bottom, and it worked.
