VPN connection refuses to ask for login credentials

Hi,

A few days ago I have set up an new vpn connection on my windows XP
pro machine. When I tried to connect to the remote server the
connection didn't ask for my login credentials. Instead the login box
flashed on my screen for a millesecond and it tried to connect. As
expected the connection failed due to incorrect username and password.
I have no clue how to fix this to problem. Tried a lot of Windows
settings, but nothing resolved the problem.

Any ideas?
I work on a HP Compaq nc6400 notebook.

Cheers,

Aart

Have you created a auto VPN? If right click on the VPN connection, what do you see?

No, I think I didn't create an auto VPN?
The context menu shows the same options as a normal working VPN
connection, like: "Connect, Set as default connection, Create Copy,
etc"
