Volume Mirror Regenerate to New Disk

Situation: Small Domain server for a client looses slave
IDE drive over the weekend. Slave drive was part of
mirror set. Primary drive is 80GB with 7.1 GB partition
Fat32 and 63.5 GB partition Fat32 Maxtor 80GB 7200RPM.
Slave drive is exactly the same.

I replaced with new Maxtor 80 GB drive, established
signature for the drive and made dynamic. Went back to
primary drive to create mirror for both volumes.

The 7.1 GB volume makes it to 80% regeneration and then I
get an I/O error same with 63 GB volume but give I/O
error at 40%.

I have tried one volume at a time connected and
disconnected from the network. Same results, I have
performed ChkDsk on both volumes to rule out bad sectors,
still same results.

Watson doesn't tell me anything, does anyone have any
experience? I have no experience with software managed
mirror or raids.

TIA

Quick question,

If I can't recreate the mirror due to Bad sectors, is it
feasible for me to GHOST this drive and then swap the
Primary for the slave, reformat and then start over.

Or Ghost to the new drive and then buy a new 80 and then
rebuild the mirror?

Sorry for the rapid fire posting..

TIA

Tim
