Volume Licensing Mode

I have a laptop that came with Windows OEM. I don't have the OEM cd,
but have Windows Retail. I installed the Windows Retail on my laptop,
but now I cannot use the OEM cd provided on the bottom of my laptop. Is
there anyway that I can change the licensing mode of Windows from
Retail to OEM without having to reinstall Windows?

Probably not. The product key associated with the OEM version
would probably be rejected by the presently installed Retail
version of Windows XP. The option would be to re-install XP
via whatever media that came with the laptop and its product
key. The XP Retail can then be re-used with its own product key.

1.) VL in Subject
2.) OEM on laptop, no OEM CD
3.) Retail installed on Laptop, OEM CD on bottom of Laptop reapears but
doesn't work.
4.) YOU ARE A BLOODY IDIOT, AND SHOULD BE FLOGGED UNTIL YOU CAN BE MADE
TO MAKE SOME SENSE!

Contact the vendor - they will ship a CD for a small fee in almost all
cases.

If you installed a Retail copy then use a retail key. If you expect to
use a OEM key with a Retail installation you are mistaken.

If you didn't make a backup of your OEM installation you have fallen
into the same trap as the ignorant masses that think their machines are
just going to work forever and that a backup is not needed.

Every OEM system must ship with a means to restore the computer - it's
either in your manual or was presented to you when you started using the
laptop.
