Volume Icon in Taskbar Disappears

Hello, everytime I reboot my computer is seems that I
have to go to Control Panel > Sound, Speach, and Audio >
Change Speaker Settings > "Click" Enable Sound Icon in
Taskbar in order to get the sound icon to appear. How
come the icon won't be there when I reboot? It should
remember that I toggled it on before.
I have a creative SBLive Soundcard,
XP Pro Op system. Any ideas or hints as to the cause of
this?
