Volume control icon not displayed in systray

The volume control icon is not displayed in taskbar.

Knowledge base article 279435 (How to display volume icon)
said: control panel; sounds and audio devices;
check "Place volume icon in the taskbar." However it was
already checked.

Internet radio and wave files sound good.
The sound control on RealOne Player works normally.
Running sndvol32.exe opens the Volume Control panel, which
works ok.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Clear that check box, and ok your way, then check it and ok your way out
again. Also, right-click taskbar, click properties, and clear the check
box, "Hide inactive icons"
