Volume control from keyboard

Is there a way to control the speaker volume from the keyboard?

Yes, if you have one of the special keyboards that do that. I have a
Microsoft Digital Media Professional keyboard, which does it.

Not without a special keyboard. How about using your mouse? Here is a link
so you can control the volume with your wheel mouse!

Nirsoft's software does not and has never included spyware! The
utilities made by Nirsoft are sometimes flagged as malware because some
of his utilities are very powerful, in the hands of inexperienced users
or in the hands of malicious persons some of his tools can be dangerous
because they can run with almost unlimited privileges under the system
account.

ZoneAlarm tells me nirsoft is known to include spyware, so I didn't try it.

No, it warns (or should warn) you that it is a PUP (Probably Unwanted
Program). That is not malware. It is often hackware but if YOU install it
then YOU chose to use it. None of Nirsoft's utilities miraculously appear
on your host unless you downloaded them and/or installed them (some might
run without having to install). Nirsoft has some utilities that can hack
into programs or registry entries to extract passwords but it YOUR choice to
use them. Based on the capability of Nirsoft's programs, these same AV
programs that warn about Nirsoft should be warning against SysInternals, too
(except they never did even before Microsoft bought SysInternals).
