voice connection fails

numerous times now, right in the middle of a voice
conversation on windows messenger, for some unknown reason
windows messenger just shuts down...very frustrating, any
idea's why?

Do you mean the whole client shuts down? If so, you may find it helpful to upgrade your
audio drivers to the latest on WindowsUpdate (or from your hardware manufacturer), you can do
so here:
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com (after scanning, click Drivers).
