vob is too long for WMM

I am dubbing from VCR to DVD+R to transfer to my computer for editing in WMM.
The last vob is always > 19 hours in length as described in WMM even though
it is smaller in GBytes than the others. As such it is not editable in WMM
in that it is "too long".

Any way around this?

vob files are MPEG2 ones that don't work in Movie Maker

see my website's Import Movie Source Files > Video > Discs page for info
about conversion before importing

Just an observation - I was able to import the other preceding vob files into
WMM in Vista and edit them. I'm only having trouble with the last vob file
on the disk.

Thanks for your prompt response - I will read your files when I get home
tonight.

I often use Movie Maker as the conversion utility to go from MPEG2 to
DV-AVI.... but I don't trust Movie Maker enough to use them in a project. I
convert those that don't import or go to the timeline.

So, I read the article last night and used vob2mpg to convert the vob files
to avi and imported them into WMM (in Vista). However, there are some parts
of the vob (that I could see when I directly imported the vob into WMM (but
can't edit it because it's too long)) that were not included in the avi.
I thought that this might have happened because of some 2-hour limit that
might exist in the vob2mpg program so I re-dubbed the last 1/2 hour from each
of two tapes to DVD and ran vob2mpg to convert to avi and re-import to WMM.
And, sure enough, there were parts of the vob that were not included in the
resultant avi that I viewed in WMM.
So, while the avi conversion did help to get some portions of the VCR tape
to WMM, it still left me w/o access to some of the video. I don't know why.

I don't use vob2mpg ..... but the name sounds like it converts one type of
MPEG2 to another.... which would be why neither work in Movie Maker
