VMWare Fusion, no wireless internet?

I just bought an iMac for my mother which has VMWare Fusion on it so she can
still run Windows XP.

However, for some reason windows XP refuses to recognise the wireless
adapter. In 'network connection' it gives no option to 'view avaliable
wireless networks' of any kind.

When you change over to Mac, the wireless works perfectly.

We have attempted to update the drivers, checked the SP (it's #3) and
troubleshooted all over the darn place.. but NOBODY seems to have a solution,
just similar complaints.

Can anyone help?

Try another wireless adapter, perhaps USB, which has drivers for both
the Mac and XP.

Are you suggesting I use a USb adapter in order to download some kind of
driver?

If you're suggesting I use a USB driver permanently, then no thank you.. The
whole point of having an iMac was for the sleek and tidy design.. having
something sticking out of it all the time would counter that.

We don't understand what we're doing wrong. Other people apparently have
their internet work just fine.. especially vista people. So why is xp
refusing to see our wireless card?

Did you see any new icon on the bottom right hand corner of the screen on
the computer monitor? If you do click this twice fast. After installing the
wireless software there should be an icon.

Hi,

It got nothing to do with your windows driver so basically it would not do anything even if you update it. You can make it use your Mac wireless connection by clicking on Virtual Machine tab on top and choose network adapter. After that click on Network Adapter Settings. You need to choose "Share the Mac's connection(NAT)".

Whatever connection your mac uses VMware will use it even if its wireless.
Hopefully that works.
