Visual C++ Runtime Error - updmgr.exe

I have Windows XP Pro and have loaded my ISP software onto my new laptop (Earthlink Total Access 2004). Since loading the Earthlink software, I'm periodically receiving the following run time error once I'm dialed in

Visual C++ Runtime Librar
Runtime Erro
C:/Program Files/Earthlink Total Access/Updmgr.ex
Abnormal program terminatio

I've discussed with DELL and they've been no help. I've been round and round with Earthlink....uninstalled/reinstalled their software....and still continue to get the error. I spoke with an earthlink support rep last night and she is suggesting the error is Windows related as there is a conflict with the Earthlink toolbar update mgr (based upon the error message). However, she was not able to assist any further

Can anybody please provide a solution? I would GREATLY appreciate it

Did I miss reading? Problem is with Visual C++ and you have him download
Visual Basic 6? Like putting a splont on one's arm for a broken ankle.
