I need to know the verbiage for the pop and smtp, please. I thought I had it
right then I kept getting the box that asked for my log on and pw. I backed
all the way out, entered everything again, rebooted, and I still cannot get
into Windows Mail.
Help!!!!

After you get that prompt click Cancel. An error message should pop up.
Right-click on your error message, copy, then paste it into a reply here.
We can't do much troubleshooting without the complete error message.

Account: 'pop.hughes.net', Server: 'pop.hughes.net', Protocol: POP3, Server
Response: '.', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC18

This time I did not get the logon pw prompt. It just went to this message
when I tried the 'receive/send'.

Account: 'pop.hughes.net', Server: 'pop.hughes.net', Protocol: POP3, Port:
110, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC17

I just unchecked the 'remember my password' and now I'm getting the logon
and pw prompt again. the above message after this attempt. I did note that
the password is now gone on in the properties/server section.

Response: '-ERR Invalid', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error:

Just received this errror message; I don't think it was the same as the last
two I just sent you.
Thanks!

First, go to Tools, Accounts, select that mail account, Properties, Servers.
Uncheck the box for "Log on using Secure Password Authentication."
If that was already unchecked, and you are sure you are you are entering
the correct username and password, one other cause for that error is
account corruption. As a possible quick fix, delete that corrupted
mail account, restart Windows Mail, then recreate that account.

If that doesn't fix it, more drastic measures will have to be taken.
Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus must be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled.

If turning off the email scanning function does not resolve your problem,
consider upgrading to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to
suffering bad effects from overly aggressive antivirus programs.

Email scanning in any antivirus must be disabled, for reasons
explained here:
