Just to say I built a new system, installed Vista Ultimate with no problems.
Easiest install
I've done since DOS. 1.5 months up and running with no problems. Questions
yes, but no problems with
OS

I haven't had problems with it either, I just don't like the look & feel of
it.
Why they thought putting the steering wheel in the trunk & the dimmer switch
in the glovebox would make it more secure is still a mystery.
Fisher-Price did the front end, AOL (hold my hand & protect me from myself)
did the back end.

My computer is 3 years old and runs Vist Ultimate perfectly My thinking is
Symantec is your problem. I have had no problems with this comp, but the
comp I use at work was slow until I removed Symantec, just an opinion.

I wouldn't allow Symantec anywhere near any of my machines.
On my various systems I use AVG, Avast and ClamWin.
My Vista box runs fine, I just dislike the look and feel of it.
Vista doesn't like being changed to the way I like it.
Disabling UAC makes other things malfunction, bad bad bad bad bad
programming!
They call it increased security. I call it reduced functionality.
In MY OPINION, Vista looks like it was designed by a team comprised of old
AOL programmers and graphic designers from Fisher-Price or Mattel.
If you like it, great. I don't and won't unless they totally revamp it.
I told MS from day 1 of the Beta it was ugly, functions were not intuitive &
many 'features' in it needed reworked.
They didn't take any of my advice on the design and put out exactly what
they wanted.
A dumbed down, hold my hand & protect me from myself, version of Windows
that looks like something a 6 year old would find appealing while he's at
Toys-R-Us with Grandma.
