Vista Ultimate 32 & 64-bit licences?

Hi All

As Vista Ultimate comes packaged with both a 32-bit & 64-bit disk, does this
mean that they are both independant licences. In other words, is it legal to
install both the 32-bit & 64-bit versions on two seperate computers even
though they are packaged in the same retail box?

I wish to know if I may use the 32-bit version and give away to a friend the
64-bit version legally and both be independantly genuine.

That would be nice, but there's only one Product key. So you have the option
of installing EITHER the x32 OR the x64 version - that is, the license
is for one installation, but you can choose whether it is the x32 or x64
version you install.

Other things you can do:

-On a whim remove one version and install the other e.g. replace the x32
version with the x64 at some point.
-Sell the set of DVDs so long as you remove all copies from your possession
on sale.
-Transfer the installation to a new computer of yours so long as you remove
it from the old one.

All retail licenses of Vista including Ultimate includes only 1 license per
machine. The the inclusion of both media's is just a benefit of the SKU
itself. If you are going to install 32-bit, Microsoft is probably assuming
in the future, you might want to migrate to 64 bit as the device drive and
software application support becomes even more richer for that particular
architecture.

Although the Vista DVD contains both 32 bit and 64 bit versions you cannot
use your 32 bit product key to activate the 64 bit operating system; you
will need a seperate key for each operating system version. in other words
one for the 32 bit version and one for the 64 bit version.
