Vista to XP ( Vista has issues wit Nvidia applicatin)

Background:

Bought two identical notebooks (Dell Vostro 1500) for downloading movies and
play back on my big screen TV.

Both have Nvidia Geforce 8400M GS and I am using Nvidia “ n Viewâ€
application to enable S-video port and connect to my TV.

Problem Statement:

One notebook has XP that works perfectly fine with n View and I am happy
with it.
The other has Vista and I can not use n view or any other application to
even detect my TV.

My solution (I am open to any other ideas):

Downgrading from Vista to XP home edition SP2 Ver 5.1.

Questions:
1. Can I use Dell Reinstallation CD for XP to downgrade Vista machine?
2. Am I going to run into licensing and activation issued with Microsoft?

You would need either an unused winxp cd, or a Dell winxp recovery cd and
new winxp license
The license on the Visa pc is for Vista supplied by Dell.

Presumably you checked Dell site for updated drivers?
Called Dell, explained that the hw supplied doesnt function in Visa,
therefore will they supply winxp instaead?

You will need another XP licence for the second machine. Contact Dell.

Maybe, but I suspect the two machines are not "identical" in terms of internal hardware.
YES. Your XP software was expressly tied to the machine it was installed on. It is OEM software.

I would go to the vista news groups and find a fix for the problem. Did you try Dell Tech Support?
I know, damn hard to understand them.
