Vista to XP SP2 RDP not working

R

Raja B

When I am trying to do an RDP from my Vista Laptop to a XP desktop at
work, I receive following error message

1) The remote computer is running a version fo windows that is earlier
than windows vista
2) the remote computer is configured to support only the RDP security
layer

w.r.t point 1, can't we make RDP from Vista to previous versions of
windows

any help will be highly appreciated

the first message is normal...
the second is not..

you should go to the microsoft.public.windowsxp.work_remotly newsgroup

post there since this is the RDP newsgroup

You don't need to, but its available for it anyway. The user could check
his/her Firewalls to make sure that RDP is an exception on both systems.
Makre sure its not being blocked by your Anti-Virus. Also, the OP can check
back to the System Properties > Remote (tab) and make sure that Allow
connections from computers running any version of Remote Desktop (less
secure) is selected.
