Vista Themes

I know it's early days but is it likely we will see any more themes for
Vista?

I have a real problem with the very light colour (nearly white) that is
used to indicate focus in Tree Views and List Views - e.g. when you select
a folder in the Explorer Tree View and then click on a file in the List
View, it's very difficult to spot which folder is selected.

It's funny, I always thought that customisation was Microsoft's thing - but
not in Vista. You can change colors and font sizes... but that's it. Maybe
"Vista Plus" will be what you're looking for?

I'm not sure that changing fonts & colours works if you're using a Vista
theme, I think the theme file over-rides those settings.

Roll on Vista plus :)

Jeff--

If you're willing to use 3rd party there are a lot of options, the better
ones cost but many are available free.

Stardocks
Style XP

and just search for Vista skins and themes.

I would also like to change this same setting. It's almost impossible to see
which folder is highlighted on my notebook screen. The desktop is fine. You
can access all the same settings as in XP via Personalization - Window color
and appearance - Open classic appearance properties for more options -
Advanced. This will get you to the same dialog box that has existed since
Windows 95. Unfortunately I don't see this setting in there :-(

I *think* they are still skins to make XP look like Vista, or anything
other than XP :)
I wouldn't mind a skin that makes Vista look like XP!
It's just this blasted highlight thing, must have been designed by an arty
type :)
I wonder if it's a registry entry, perhaps I'll have a poke through the
registry.

I'm also pretty sure that if you use a Vista theme then those settings are
ignored.
It does seen easy to make it look like W95, there should be an XP theme :)

I believe Stardock is currently beta testing a new version of
Windowblinds that is compatible with Vista. It many be possible with
that version to make vista look like XP.

When I change settings in that dialog my desktop changes. I can also save
the new theme. I just can't find the setting that changes that particular
item.

You're right, some of them do, I now have a horrible red desktop after
experimenting :)

I will keep trying, if I get anywhere I'll report back.
