Vista system properties reports doubles ram

OK, we're all familiar with 4gb of ram being reported as less than that,
but I've got one computer that doubles the ram I put in a
system...sometimes.

If I put in 512mb, it reports 512mb accurately.

However, if I put in 1gb, it reports it as 2gb. If I put in 2gb, it
reports it as 4gb.

Vista Ultimate sp1.

My only guess is it is the Soyo ck8n Dragon Plus motherboard with an
nforce3 chipset. This is the only nforce3 motherboard that I have ever
put Vista on.

Check to see what the BIOS reports at boot time. If the BIOS is also
reporting double then it's likely a motherboard problem.

No, bios reports it correctly--that's what is so odd about it...for a
moment, I thought I put in larger ram sticks, but did not. These ram
sticks actually report proper size in a different machine AND in Windows
XP in this machine that is now misreporting
