Vista - SUV parallels

this keeps running around in my mind... vista is so.... SUV,
and the same people who like SUV's I am sure will like vista....

As SUV owners, the same personality traits are shared with those who like
vista,

They tend to be people who are insecure and vain. They are frequently
nervous about their marriages and uncomfortable about parenthood. They often
lack confidence in their driving skills. Above all, they are apt to be
self-centered and self-absorbed, with little interests in their neighbors
and communities.

They are more restless, more sybaritic, and less social than most Americans
are. They tend to like fine restaurants a lot more than off-road driving,
seldom go to church and have limited interest in doing volunteer work to
help others.

PS. If you own an SUV, you suck....

I can't argue whether or not people who like SUV's also like Vista, but
you're probably right. The inverse of that however is not true. I like
Vista. Ran it through the entire beta and it is now my main OS. I do *not*
like SUV's.

PS.. In Canada's snow belt, a 4WD may be the only way to get anywhere at
all, hospital included.. what is selfish about that?

Then I support using SUVs in Canada that has snow.... That is logical!

But I have seen them in some places, cities and counties, with fantastic
weather,
and no parking space, and narrow roads...

this is clearly a problem.... and its because people want to feel "big" in
their cars, and lack greater ideals.

I would never want such a car if I didn't need it. Now if it was electric or
ran on water (this can be done by the way) I wouldn't care about size.. you
could drive a 20 wheel truck and I wouldn't care.. but these SUV's because
of their size are in the "truck" category, and that is why they don't have
to comply with the more strict emission regulations... that means more
greenhouse gases that creating global warming.

its a sad story.. and at the times when the artic and Siberia is melting...

I am afraid that global warming has a "runaway" nature.. not a few degrees
in 50 years as they say. What does this mean? This means that if we don't
change our ways fast, the world can be devastated in very little time...

While your post is interesting - where is the linkage between software and
transportation preferences? There is no point here. Volition gives us the
ability to make choices but does not govern what choices are made. It is
quite a leap from SUV to OS. What if a person drives a compact energy
efficient auto and uses Linux?

J

jim

I have gone through all the beta testing of vista too....

but I still dont *like* it... Its ok... but it could be better...

"Some people see things as they are and ask why... I dream of things that
never were and ask why not".

This above phrase you probably know, is exactly what I am talking about...

vista could have been so much better

Thank you for not liking SUV's....

LOL. Thanks for the laugh. What a bunch of crap to say how a person is based
on a car he/she drives. Funny though.

SUVs do suck, and so do the people that drive them in cities, but Windows
has far too much market share to make generalisations like that.

PS. I bet Troy McClure drives an SUV!

Jim,

Your personality trait is that of a 1976 Slime Green Gremlin!

Long live the SUV guzzlers!

Absolutely why not?

1) They are helping keep us in the shitstorm we're in foreign relations
wise.
2) The six State of the Union pieces of garbage from the egotistical and
shallow moron in the West Wing have had nothing substantive in them when
they referenced energy solutions.
3) They have a 16% higher rate of C-Spine fractures that lead to paralysis
and/or death, so the surgical ICUs and ER's and EMT's get more practice.
This stat came from a study Bush's guy at the DOT who has 20 years under his
belt comissioned and ran so it would be a statistical clinical medical
study. It was an excellent study but it hasn't changed a damn thing with
the auto makers.

One other stat that emerged was that the high fronts of SUVs account for
1000 deaths every year in the US when there is a collison with a non-SUV,

The code section changed by Congress to lower them won't be on the books
until 2010. Apparently Congress was happy to sacrifice 1000 deaths to keep
their contributors (lobbyists and the auto industry happy.

As far as I can tell, and I continue to discover features in Vista after 18
months, there are no reported incidences of a cervical spine fracture from
Vista leading to paralysis and/or death when the fragments sever the cord.

Vista does not collide with a car and kill the driver unless and I'm sure
this is going to happen, someone is using it while driving on a laptop, tab,
notebook, or pc mounted in the dash.

So Vista has some distinction from SUVs.

The Auto industry in the US has been using a shrink for years to help design
ad campaigns that hit the "reptilian brain" of potential customers and it
works. He was featured in the Sunday NY Times a while back.

My fav is the ad that has run on TV recently: Mommy with kid at sliding
board sees another mommy cut in front of her with that mommy's kid. Close
up of pissed off mommy. 2 seconds later the next clip shows pissed off
mommy asuaging her pain with a Hummer II. The obvious idea projected is
"Bring it and screw with me now." I assume she's thinking of climbing the
sliding board through the other mommy and kid with her new Hummer.
