Vista stops responding when I run the STALKER game

Vista stops responding when I run the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game Shadow of
Chernobyl, right after the ASUS logon and before the main menu at game
start-up.

This is a new issue to ATI's new drivers 8.6. The previous drivers 8.5 work
fine.
About my computer: AIW9600XT with 2 monitors, AMD Athlon XP 1700+.

One more reason NOT to buy ATi, despite the good hardware, all of their
software is a mess.

One more reason NOT to buy ATi, despite the good hardware, all of their

Well, rollback to the 8.5 driver and your problem is sloved. You should be
able to do this off of Device Manager, if not go to the Web site and
download the 8.5 driver and install it.
