Why is Explorer hanging ?

I ran system file checker tool, sfc.exe
Nothing wrong, all is well.

Ran Shellexviewer.. nothing strange there either...

Anyone!
Major Thank!

Rick

PS:, if MS keeps making crap like this, Linux will take over...

When you use ShellExView try sorting out the non-Microsoft entries to see if that helps.

Run ShellExView, find the ' Microsoft ' column and click the header to sort non-Microsoft
entries to the top. They should be high-lighted in pink.

Try disabling the high-lighted ones marked ' Context Menu ' in the Type column and rebooting
to try and narrow it down.

Good luck.

Thanks Dave,
It would appear as to follow,

With DEP set to All and exclude explorer.exe
and shut off linkman pro shell ( all is fine )

if I shut off DEP from all to normal again,
and with linkman pro shell OFF ( problem still there )

So, it would appear, explorer has issues still,

! Here is a snip from shellexview ( there not much )

I don't mess around with the DEP settings, mine is set to ' Essential Windows
programs and services only '. I'm assuming that's the default (Windows 7).

Looking at your list it seems you have four items listed as type 'Context Menu' :

Nvidia Control Panel
7-Zip
Avast
Eraser

I would try disabling all four, rebooting and see if it fixes your problem.
If it does, re-enable one at a time, reboot and check.

Good luck.

Hey Dave,

Well, it would appear, again, I have to turn on DEP for All, and
exclude, explorer.exe from the list, otherwise, is makes no differences,
and Linkman pro for IE, must be shut off.

Then it will work fine. ( this started ONLY ) when updating to service
pack 2. for vista.

Oh well, I don't know what else to suggest.
If it were my machine I'd uninstall Avast, Eraser and 7-Zip and check for the problem.
If I still had problems I'd do a clean install and check. Then update to SP2 and check.
Then install any other programs one at a time.

Hopefully somebody else may have a better idea!

If you use Problem Reports and Solutions control panel : Check For
Solutions, and then view that particular error report again in View Problem
History, what bucket number is it?
