Vista SP1 Question

Trevor

I downloaded the 5 language standalone yesterday and can't
get it to install. It says I don't have the correct languages
installed. I am running Vista Ultimate. Am dissapointed.
Is there a link on MS that I can download SP1 that works without
waiting for the Update next month?

Thanks for any help,

Regards,

Visit the Windows Update web site for SP1.
Look for any Updates required before installing SP1.

If the following KB article applies to you, then no you cannot. The language
release schedule is pretty much set in stone.

A language pack is not available when you click "View available updates"
after you install Windows Vista Service Pack 1:

See my attachment:
So because Vista Ultimate includes many other languages besides those
listed for this version of SP1 it won't work? Grrrr.
Wonder if it will work on 'Home Premium'?

So I guess this means I have to wait for the Windows Update Version?
I was hoping to get a standalone version to put on our network for
updating users locally instead of waiting for dl's on every pc.

Thanks for the help.

What language is your system configured to use? If not one of the five
languages built into the standalone SP1 installer, then you cannot use
the download.

The five currently supported SP1 languages are:

- English (US)
- French
- German
- Japanese
- Spanish (Traditional)Have you tried with Windows Update yet?

The language is English but my version also includes many other
languages by default. I mistakenly read that to mean as long as
yours included one of the 5 it would work.

???

Thanks,

Trev
