vista sound issues

Hi!

my sound on my vista freaks out and shuts down or sometimes just sits there making the same repetitive tone. I have tried the sound card and speakers in a different system running the same driver with no problem... Any ideas???

You didn't mention if this 'different system' was a Vista machine or not,
but if it was, you have some problem with a device conflict, and its driver.
The only way to detect which one would be to temporarily disable the other
device drivers one by one and test sound.
