vista slow on compatible system

ive just bought a new easynote laptop that is supposed to be fully compatible
with
windows vista, i had no problems with the install everything went fine but
as soon
as i went to use the os i found that it was so slow i had to wait for at
least 15 minutes just to access anything within vista, so i thought that i
would try to speed
things up a bit by turning off the aero theme and all the startup programs.
Now my install looks like windows 95 and still i'm having to wait for about
15 minutes to access anything, i know its not my laptop beacuse it runs
everything else with no problems, all thhe new stuff on the market all the
games, all the software i think microsoft need to put more effort into
solving the problems with vista or not even bother putting it on the market
when it is finally released beacuse personally i think its a waste of time
and money and i'm a microsoft fanatic.
If they want vista to work i think they need to make it more like windows xp
when it comes to what it can run on if you have any suggestions please add

Its possible the reason why its so slow is because the Indexing engine is
running the in background indexing the contents of the disk. The performance
of system should improve once everything indexed. To check the progress,
open Control Panel > Indexing Options.

Could also post your system specs?

If it's really that slow I suspect a driver is at fault. If you're
installing on a Promise SATA controller they still have issues.

Hi guys,

I have a dell Inspirion 6000 and a Sony Vaio desktop with both running Vista
RC1 build 5600. The Dell laptop runs fast and no issues (of course no glass
because of the Intel 915 graphics chip)

The Vaio started out fast and furious but all of a sudden a couple weeks ago
it is slower than a snail. No errors or problems that I can see. I can't find
any reason for the huge slowdown.

Dell 1.6 ghz, 2 gig ram, 100 gig hard drive, 915 Intel intigrated graphics.
Sony Vaio 2.6 ghz, 1 gig ram, 300 gig hard drive, nvidia GeForce 7800GS
graphics.

any suggestions, short of a clean install?

Mark

PS: sorry about my poor typing, I have a cast on one hand.
