Vista Slow in network operations

I am testing Vista Ultimate Beta 1. So far, network operations, such as an
LDAP query, telnet sessions, browsing remote shares, all are operating
extremely slow, when compared side by side with 2000 pro or XP pro.

in these areas, it is almost unuseable.

Any suggestions?

But I should add that browsing the internet and email are working very
quickly. When my client queries a third party (Ipswitch) LDAP server, it
takes 9-10 seconds, and the computer is unresponsive.

When I telnet into a router, it is extremely slow, but an xp machine
telnetted into the same router has no problems.

If I attempt to browse to a network share, The machine becomes totally
unresponsive, and I can't even bring up the task manager to kill the
attempted operation

For one thing you're using Beta 1.

I have beta 2, but already have beta 1 installed. I started with a brand new
XP, installed beta 1. I have the ISO for beta 2, how do I proceed?

How to proceed for what? Off hand I don't remember if you can do an
upgrade from Beta 1 to Beta 2 or if you'll need to do a clean install. XP
doesn't need to be installed, only if you're testing the upgrade process,
and why would you be doing that now anyway?

The real issue is you are using a beta release. That could be the problem
in itself. Vista has been RTM since November.
