Vista shairing problems in both directions

J

Jack B. Pollack

Just added a new Vista (Home Premium) computer to my peer to peer network (2
Win XP Pro computers, 1 Win 98 computer, 1 Mac OSX computer). All computers
can access each others resources in both directions except the new Vista
computer.

I can see the Vista computer in the network neighborhood, but can't see its
shared folders. From the Vista computer I can see the other computers, but
cant connect to their resources.

Vista computer CAN access the internet
All computers are part of the same workgroup
All firewalls are (temporarily) turned off
I am logging into the Vista computer with the same username & PW that I used
on all other computers.
Vista is set to private network, file sharing is ON, require PW is off
Shared folders on Vista have full access permissions for the user I am
using.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Hi Jack.

I was having a very similar problem. At the suggestion of another member
here in the community, I downloaded and installed a free program called
Network Magic. It solved all of my problems automatically, and runs like a
champ! I spent hours and hours trying to fix the problem myself, but Network
Magic fixed it in about ten minutes (install time, etc).
Anyway, thought I would pass this along, it is worth a try. You can
download the program here:
http://www.networkmagic.com/
Hope this helps.
