Vista RTM the Final Deal?

C

Colin Barnhorst

The Vista code is finished. That has been guaranteed to developings testing
for Vista logo certification. However inclusion of new drivers is possible.

I believe that they can still be included on the retail dvd's. However, as
you have been saying correctly, the Vista code itself is locked.

I guess the same goes for Office, too...?

BTW: Why is there no logo on boot up? It just shows a progress
bar... I noticed this on RTM and on RC2?

Yeah. Looks really rough and unfinished. So to be fair, it fits the mood of
the rest of the operating system quite well that way.

New drivers are making it to the Windows Update site on an almost daily
basis. My web cam found a driver after 6 days when it could not do so
before. As the hardware manufacturers make the drivers available to
Microsoft, they in turn will place the drivers on the Windows Update web
site for automatic download.

That's the final screen. There is no logo screen like you see in XP.

Yep I know that. I'm just saying that it looks really rough and
"unfinished", and that looking that way it fits in well with the rest of
that pile of junk code pretending to be an operating system.

You are NOT going to see any changes in the Vista operating system between
now and when you can purchase it in the stores.

Now, if there were to be a "major" blowup of the operating system under
certain circumstances who knows what they may do. But, do to the extensive
testing, I don't foresee any such occurrence happening.

Please link to an authoritative source that states that the RTM version of
Vista is not final code. PLEASE!

Colin;
"inclusion of new drivers is possible"
You mean on the CD?
I would very much doubt that.
However more drivers etc will continue to be added to Microsoft/Windows
Update.

I read a comment by Jim Allchin that it is possible to include last minute
items like additional drivers. He said many things have changed since XP
and MS has much better manufactuing available. Somebody posted the link to
his comments in another thread.

Colin;
I do not recall if Jim A is the reference, but the link I saw referenced
changes added by Windows Update.
Although when I first started reading, it seemed like he was referring to
the CD.
Later in the article it was clearly changes by Windows Update etc.

Vista logo certification? Vista passed it? I don't see how! I can point
out dozens of violations of the Vista UI standards that Microsoft itself
published on MSDN. Vista should have never passed its own certification
tests.
