Windows Vista RTM Free Trial

N

NewsHound

There is a posting by one person in this newsgroup claiming that there
will be a free trial of the Vista RTM code beginning Dec. 1 for a period
of 120 days.

I've not seen any information anywhere else regarding a Vista trial of the
final RTM code. Has anyone else come across any info which confirms this?

BTW I think its a great idea. I'm currently running Vista RC2 x86 on two
of my home machines. Everything is working so well that I rarely go back
to XP. It would be great to get the RTM code and be able to run it for a
couple of months until Vista is available at retail.

Also www.sysadmin.it says that Vista trial 120 day beginning Dec 1...

A 120 day trial would take it past the retail release date.

What happens if one was to re-install the trial after 120 days? Presumably
the activation would be blocked (or you could run the trial indefinitely,
re-installing every three months!)

Trials usually come with 5 activation limits. XP Pro x64 trial was 5
activations.

plus the RC2 Build 5744 goes to june I think so it be longer than the RTM
expiration.

Usually RTM Expires 120 Days for a Client OS and 180 for a Server OS,
where as a Beta Expires 365 Days after Release.

Correction: RTM Trial, Not Regular RTM.

Probably since they did it with Windows XP and others.
The trial for Windows XP was 120 days IIRC, but the trial for windows XP
currently is for 30 days.

Isn't Windows XP X64 Edition still 120 Days?

I just checked the Windows XP X64 Edition Website, and it still says
that the Windows XP X64 Edition Free Trial is 120 Days, Just FYI.

So you could technically run the trial version for around 20 months by
re-installing every 120 days?!
