Vista Restarts on its own

Raymond

I have a Dell XPS M2010 running Windows VISTA Business. Almost exactly 3
hours after I start the computer and log in (about 8:10a.m.), the computer
shuts down and restarts(11:20a.m.), without asking to save anything I'm
working on.

Usually it remains on for the rest of the day. I have looked in the power
settings and cannot figure out what is causing this auto-restart.

Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

You should turn on the Auditing in Vista that will log events in the
system logs that you can look at with the Event Viewer. It does it by
date and time. Maybe, you'll spot something or some tendencies.
