Vista Remote Desktop Connection no longer works

I purchased a Dell laptop in mid February with Vista installed on it and was
able to remote desktop to my work PC (which is running XP) no problems! It
requires a VPN connection to be established first.

About 2 weeks ago, it all of a sudden stopped working. The VPN connection
continues to establish just fine, but now I get the following 'remote desktop
disconnected' error message: "This computer can’t connect to the remote
computer. Try connecting again. If the problem continues, contact the owner
of the remote computer or your network administrator".

I am able to connect to my work PC from my *other* PC at home no problem
(it's a desktop running XP) so I know it's not related to my work PC. Any
ideas? I just don't understand why it was working fine for several weeks and
then not. I tried disabling my firewall as a test, but the issue persists.
Help!

Thanks for the suggestion - but unfortunately it didn't do the trick. Any
other suggestions?

I have the same problem. It started when I installed Trend Micro
virus protection. I have since removed their firewall, as well as
Vistas firewalls (including those in Firewall with Advanced Security).
It worked again for one day, then stopped again this morning, same
message as EAGal.
