Version for Remote Desktop

TJAC

I am putting together a document that will help our employees determine what
specifications they would need when they are in the market for a new
computer. One area I have briefly highlighted on is the Vista versions that
are available. I have read that Remote Desktop is only available in the
Business and Ultimate versions; however, I have heard that it is also
possible in the Home Premium and I am curious if the way we use Remote
Desktop is also available in the Home Basic.
The Remote Desktop we are most interested in allows us to connect to our
pc's at work FROM home once we have connected through VPN. I thought I read
the Remote Desktop Microsoft is highlighting is connecting to your Home
computer FROM work, which is not how we would use the remote desktop.
So, what I need to know, what versions of Vista will allow remote desktop
for us to connect to work pc's from home?
I have to verify this is correct so employees do not purchase the wrong
version. We have a lot of employees that will do work from home and need
that to connect while at home.

Thanks for the information!

Vista enterprise also has Terminal server and of course Windows server2008.

But what you are asking is for people to be clients with their computers...

Thats easy,

any computer from windows98 and up and even linux can be a Remote Desktop
Client...

In XP there is an update (via windows update, extra updates) that upgrades
the RDP client to version 6 which is the exact one
that all versions of Vista have...

If you need any help- clarification ask.. Ill be around.
