remote desktop

I have a vista home premium sp1. Under Remote Settings, I see Allow
this computer to be controlled remotely option checked but I don't see
the screen for Remote Desktop (control / management). UAC is turned
on. How come?

Thanks.

Hi,

Vista Home Premium does not support Remote Desktop as a host, it can only be
a client. You must have Business, Ultimate, or Enterprise to host a Remote
Desktop session.

Yeah, at second googling, I found the same answer, thanks though. Any
idea as to an alternative solution to host a Remote Desktop session
from this box? (not frequent use though).

Hi,

There are many available. This one, TeamViewer, has gotten good reviews:

As Rick told you, TeamViewer is excellent. I use it to support family and
friends. It's free for personal use. Someone has to be at the hosting end to
initiate the session though and that might not meet your needs.

LogMeIn has various levels of usage and I believe one of their paid-for
flavors doesn't require someone to initiate the session at the host end.

And of course there's always VNC and its variations.

Thank you both for the info and just realize I may have another
option.
