Vista RC1 installation error 0x80070570 solution

To get around the Vista RC1 installation error 0x80070570 when installing
from DVD I found this solution.
Instead of burning the .iso image to DVD I mounted it via this software from
Micorsoft:

I used it installing Vista RC1 under “Virtual PC 2004. It seems as if the
..iso gets corrupted when burned to DVD because I used the same .iso when
mounting it via the free MS software.

Installation instructions

1. Copy VCdRom.sys to your %systemroot%\system32\drivers folder.
2. Execute VCdControlTool.exe
3. Click "Driver control"
4. If the "Install Driver" button is available, click it. Navigate to the
%systemroot%\system32\drivers folder, select VCdRom.sys, and click Open.
5. Click "Start"
6. Click OK
7. Click "Add Drive" to add a drive to the drive list. Ensure that the drive
added is not a local drive. If it is, continue to click "Add Drive" until an
unused drive letter is available.
8. Select an unused drive letter from the drive list and click "Mount".
9. Navigate to the image file, select it, and click "OK". UNC naming
conventions should not be used, however mapped network drives should be OK.

You may now use the drive letter as if it were a local CD-ROM device. When
you are finished you may unmount, stop, and remove the driver from memory
using the driver control.

I encountered the exact same error trying to install Vista
x86 in VPC 2007 on both XP Home and XP Pro x64. I finally
extracted the .ISO and pointed VPC 2007 to the .ISO file and
it then installed without a problem.

The DVD I was using was the DVD I had burned the RC2, build
5744, downloaded .ISO that I had used at least twice
installing directly to a hard drive from the DVD and never
encountered any errors. I think the problem is really in VPC.
