Chis Pirillo..
Yes he could do some things in a more intelligent way...
For example I would not even be using vista on a production machine,
since it is beta quality.
Well I did try it once.. and everything was so slow I couldnt "produce"
anything on the production machine.
And certainly I would not be installing a beta service pack on a beta
quality OS...!
lol
Why did I post this? Well out of interest, since some people may be
thinking of installing SP1 beta,
this will make up their minds fast on how to go about it, IF they go about
it.
LOL, well, then, I hope they read my response about proper beta precautions!Michael Solomon said:Tiberius, the other responders didn't pick up the fact, this rant may not
be from you unless you happen to be Chris Pirillo.
Nonetheless, aside from the fact this is a first beta build and as
stated, the testers do have access to information regarding known issues
and workarounds, did you notice the fact he seems incredulous at the fact
XP was erasing restore points in Vista? He either isn't a Vista user, in
which case, he probably shouldn't be testing SP1 or he's woefully lacking
in knowledge of a problem that is fairly well known to those dual booting
Vista and XP. I'm not saying everyone knows but they certainly find out
if they use the System Restore feature.
Second, what kind of a beta tester doesn't create a full system backup or
better yet an image of their setup prior to installing a beta? He's
moaning about his unusable system, something easily overcome by just
using a common practice among beta testers.
Why should anyone place any stock in a rant from someone who either
didn't take the basic precaution taken by most testers or is so lacking
in knowledge of common testing practices not to mention current issues
with Vista, it makes his rant totally without merit. After all, this
isn't a public beta as yet, the testers are selected and he doesn't
appear to have knowledge of current Vista issues and doesn't take the
most basic of precautions to protect his system from a major calamity
that might result from installing a beta build, especially an early beta
build.. Come on, Tiberius, you can do better than that.
