My LAST RANT

Mark,

I feel your pain. I've had my brand new, HP laptop with Vista Home Premium
for two weeks and all I can say is it sucks!

I'm with you. I'm going to buy a copy of XP and get back to business.

Hmmmmm... maybe this is Microsoft's plan- put out a horrible OS and force us
to buy a workable OS- XP!

My business partner gave up on Vista yesterday and installed XP Pro on his
box.
Vista choked on its own March 2007 update. The subsequent update did run,
and upon reboot the system reported hard disk corruption and could not be
fixed. I had to factory restore just to get the laptop working again. I
am holding in my hands a copy of XP Pro and this will be the last thing I
use Vista for (writing this note).

I am absolutely astounded that a multibillion dollar company with the
resources and talent of Microsoft, and with excellent examples of
competiting products at the peak of innovation in the industry from which
to copy ideas from, that Vista is the result of this braintrust. They
should be ashamed of themselves. Yes, they worked hard and the labour was
long and the birth was arduous but the baby is braindead. Do the Spartan
thing and toss it off a cliff. I've wasted weeks of work transfering my
stuff over from my XP laptop, only to have to go back to it to get my
data. Thank god most of my stuff is emailed or stored on a corporate
server.

BTW, anyone from MS who is reading this, I'm in charge of development for
a medical software firm and make the recommendations for over 2500 users.
Guess who won't be installing Vista any time soon? Thats what you get for
releasing pre-release alphaware. Thanks for wasting my valuable time.
I'd sue you for loss of income but I know at this stage you probably have
more lawyers on staff than you do developers.

Let me get this straight your "in charge of development" for a medical
software firm and it takes you weeks to transfer things from a laptop? This
should take < an hour in capable hands. What are you transferring with
floppies? I can wipe my hard drive clean and restore from a backup in under
an hour. I don't know what took weeks and now that Vista is nearing it's end
and 7 is about to come out you come to this conclusion. Wow what did you
think of the Titanic movie? You seem to be a little behind the times and
stuck in your self made mire. IMHO.

Good luck with XP it should make you happy and this group as well, then you
can go to the XP group and complain that this or that was easier in Vista?

Rich

PS I feel sorry for the 2500 people that use your recommendations for
anything but bird cage liner.

Hey Mark:

Why is it, you think, that some people have have all kinds of trouble with
Vista, while a heap of others don't have any at all?
IMHO most of the problems (if not all) can be traced back to the user.
That's my opinion and you don't have to agree with it, as I don't agree with
yours, just to keep things on an even keel.

Harry.

It amazes me as well. I switched to Linux some time ago.

People should Google for this Frank monkey
His reputation of an IQ level equal to room temperature goes back to 2006,
many people complained on his diarrhea of the mouth even 3 years ago.
Frank has no answers to Vista defficiencies. He has a mouthful of childish
gibberish.

It amazes me that you switched to Linux some time ago but still lurk and
post to a Vista group.

Well, you can't troll if you don't lurk. But yeah, it doesn't make sense
for someone that doesn't even USE the OS in any way, shape or form, to
be looking at the newsgroup for said OS. Guess they have nothing better
to with their time then to read posts on things that have no interest to
them.

Nobody should use Linux on the desktop. If you want to do real work you
need a real OS. Windows handles that task very well. Ubuntu is shit and is
worth exactly what you pay for it: NOTHING.

Windows handles that task very well.

When it's not infected, needs defragging or is giving you a BSOD with
every reboot it plays video games fairly well, it being a toy operating
system and all.
Ubuntu is shit

A lie.

worth exactly what you pay for it: NOTHING.

And, surprise, surprise, another lie.
