Vista Outlook Express equivalent???

To those who may know: Is the free Windows Vista download of "Windows Live
Mail desktop" equal to the capabilities of Outlook Express in XP -- in that
it can handle free (old) Hotmail accounts? Vista's current Windows Mail
does not allow Hotmail HTTP access. Is WLMd the answer to Outlook Express.
I think there are many people who would like to know.

Thanks

HTTP/IMAP/POP3 accounts like Outlook Express had.
News capable as well.
No Identities - each mail account has it's own Inbox/Drafts/Sent Items.
There is a work around for multiple separated (totally) accounts.

Single Outbox for all accounts
RSS Feeds
Uses Hotmail's Calendar (web based)
Contacts are shared from Windows Live Hotmail (the new name for Hotmail) and
MSN Messenger. Not much you can do with them however, hopefully in a new
build if they choose to release one.

AD supported unless you have the MSN Premium or Hotmail Plus accounts.

You need to convert your Hotmail account to Windows Live Mail first.

WLMd is an open beta now so a few of the quirks of getting it going should
be removed now except the above Windows Live Mail conversion which you will
have to do eventually.

No it is not equal----Yes is can handle free hotmail accounts after converting to live mail.
No, OE has more functionality imo.

Thanks to you both for the replies. The important thing is the YES from
you -- that WLMd can be used as a (minimal) client for Live HotMail.
