Vista & Office 2000

Good day to you. We purchased a new pc with vista already built in. We own
a license for Office 2000 and want to know if there will be any problems with
compatability? Does Vista support Office 2000? Thank you. -p

You will likely encounter problems with Outlook 2000. The thing is Office
2000 is not certified for Windows Vista, but persons have reported the rest
of the suite working just fine on Vista. Make sure you install the latest
Service Packs (chronological order SP1, SP2, SP3) in addition to updates and
patches.

Thanks Andre. Do you mean the service packs for office 2000 or vista? If
the sp's are for office 2000, where I can I locate them? thanks a bunch. -p

Office Updates. Outlook 2000 will not remember passwords when running in
Vista.

The WAB files are in the wrong place for Outlook 2000.

Use Explorer to navigate to C:\Program Files\Common Files\System
Copy wab32.dll and wab32res.dll to C:\Windows\System32

You've been given sound advice. I have been using Word and Excel from Office
2000 for about four months on Vista Home premium with never a glitch. There
are some work arounds for Outlook 2000, but personally I felt too unsure to
rely on it. Oh, and Microsoft Publisher 2000 also runs just fine on Vista
too. Happy computing.
