Sorry to hear that switching to Windows Live Mail did not help.
It is beginning to sound more and more like a mail server issue.
The only way to narrow this problem down is to try a different
mail server. You can get a free account with Gmail:
http:\\gmail.com
then configure Gmail for POP access:
http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=13273
Then add that account to your Windows Mail or Windows Live Mail:
http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=13276
Those instructions are for Outlook Express, but should work for the
newer mail programs also.
Then try sending from that new Gmail account.

I cannot send e-mails, message keeps coming up, cannot find server and then
error ontasks 0x800cc please helpme as this has been going on for months
confirmed server settings are right pleas ehelp thank you carole davies

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
Outlook Express and should be uninstalled. The latest version of Trend's
anti-virus seems to be causing problems too.

What is the complete error message? You didn't include enough information
for any help besides what you quoted.
