vista keeps reobooting after installing mcafee

I just installed mcafee 2007 on my sony vaio that has vista installed,
originally it came with xp. some of the components failed to install and my
pc restarted its self. it keeps blocking the mcafee installer everytime It
restarts

then the message ' explorer.exe application failed to intialize bclick ok
to terminate applicatin(0xc000005.)' popping up then it closes windows
explorer, and automatically restarts I tried using the recovery disc when the
pc first restarts but the message boot from atapi cd-rom appears.

if anyone can help me I would be most grateful

Hi,

When the system first starts to load, press F8 to get the safe mode options.
Choose safe mode with command prompt. Once loaded, run rstrui.exe from the
prompt to start system restore and pick a date prior to the McAfee install.

maybe you might consider UNINSTALLING Mcaffee...........just a logical
thought

This might be a compatibility issue with the version of mcafee since this
was used on XP. Vista is a completely redesigned OS. Check with mcafee if
they have an 2007 upgrade version for Vista

The Vista OS seems to be on self protect mode. if a conflict on the
software is imminent Vista prevents it from installing further,,
