Vista is slow because it spys on the computer user.

I don't own a Mac but I bought a Vista machine from Dell. I asked to
return it because it ran so slow. They offered to install XP as it was
the only way to make it run at a decent speed.

These are the facts,

1. XP is still going strong because computer manufactures don't want
to sell slow machines.

2. Microsoft it self is so mortified by the slow performance of Vista
that they are talking about introducing a new OS next year.

3. It is physically impossible for Vista to run as fast as Mac because
they use the same chips and Vista devotes most of its memory watching
the computer user.

Currently, Microsoft penalizes Vista users who fail to activate their
operating system software within 30 days, or three days after a major
hardware configuration change, by restricting Vista to running in "out-
of-grace reduced functionality mode." This denies access to games
included in Window Vista and to premium features such as Aero Glass,
ReadyBoost, and BitLocker. It also limits the amount of time the user
can remain logged in to one hour.

Owning a Vista machine is the same as have Big Brother watch you in
1984 except people are paying to be spied on. Vista monitors all
computer use and is capable of reporting the user to Microsoft for
anything that the user does be it a political or sexual preference or
merely sharing files with another person.

I am using a family-like desktop pc, amd athlon 4800+, 2gb memory,
and vista runs like a formula-1 racing car.
Take your advantage of this message.

That really doesn't alter the issue. I'm glad that you're happy to
be sharing your information and activities with the rest of the
known universe.... really FAST.

Personally, I think it sucks and can't believe Bill succumbed to
the whimes of Homeland Zecurity so grossly.

I also think you probably let your maintenance down on your
previous OS, 'cause as far as I'm concerned, 98SE is faster
than VISTA.

JMHO, of course.... :-|

And DOS is faster than Win 9x.. like anybody cares!!

Re spying, your ISP is probably being forced into spying on you more than MS
is

VISTA's sluggishness is depressing.

Most likely.... but these two are essestially, intimately interwoven.

I have a single core three/four year old system, and I don't find Vista any
slower than XP in general.

ISP spying covers all platforms, not just Windows..

But not all platforms install trinkets that keep open ports available
and 'shadow' copy files, etc., etc.. That's why although my internet
boxes are all in the 1.5 to 3.2 Ghz range and relatively new, all
run Win 98SE or 2K. My project and fun boxes are all XP... with
only one of those tied to the net. I've been playing with VISTA off
an on when doing installs for folks over the past 15 months, and
I'm really not impressed by the sacrifices in personal security
for the sake of 'fun' connectivity.

It's just a shame, IMHO, that things have come down to this....
most especially in the realm of ISPs and telephone providers.
America ain't what she used to be, and it's just depressing to
see MS having to play 'the game'. OT, I know, but the future
seems awfully bleak for America and it weighs on my mind.
(Maybe I'm just getting old). ;-)

Does "shadow" invoke images of the CIA for you?

And if MS had had its way none of those would be issues for you. Of
course NONE of your old boxes would be able to talk to the Vista one,
the file system would be VERY different ,etc, etc, etc. Vista, as all
previous OSes is a compromise between what we had and where we are
going. Is it the best that they could have done, not in this lifetime!
Is it the best they could have done by their self imposed, and market
driven deadlines, probably not. But it is what it is. A compromise
between the security of a Mac and the wide openness of Windows. Would
'ol Bill like to steal Mac's OS, again, and make us all use something
mroe secure, YOU CAN BET YOUR BOTTOM DOLLAR! Can he do that overnite
without wholesale defections and tremendous loss of power from MS, NOT
IN THIS LIFETIME!

Suspect you purchased an underpowered machine... also called the 'el cheapo'
model.

You need to ensure whatever machine you purchase has the components that
ensure a lightning quick running Vista...

Not a chance. If you think VISTA is "lightening quick," then you had some
very serious 'issie' with your previous OS installations.
