Vista is slow because it spys on computer users

F

flamestar

I don't own a Mac but I bought a Vista machine from Dell. I asked to
return it because it ran so slow. They offered to install XP as it was
the only way to make it run at a decent speed.

Here are the facts,

1. XP is still going strong because computer manufactures don't want
to sell slow machines.

2. Microsoft it self is so mortified by the slow performance of Vista
that they are talking about introducing a new OS next year.

3. It is physically impossible for Vista to run as fast as Mac because
they use the same chips and Vista devotes most of its memory watching
the computer user.

Currently, Microsoft penalizes Vista users who fail to activate their
operating system software within 30 days, or three days after a major
hardware configuration change, by restricting Vista to running in "out-
of-grace reduced functionality mode." This denies access to games
included in Window Vista and to premium features such as Aero Glass,
ReadyBoost, and BitLocker. It also limits the amount of time the user
can remain logged in to one hour.

Owning a Vista machine is the same as have Big Brother watch you in
1984 except people are paying to be spied on. Vista monitors all
computer use and is capable of reporting the user to Microsoft for
anything that the user does be it a political or sexual preference or
merely sharing files with another person.

Then the machine obviously wasn't up to spec to run Vista. Caveat Emptor.
Here are the facts,

And you have links to prove that these are "facts" and not some trumped up
rubbish to assuage your personal guilt for not having researced properly?
1. XP is still going strong because computer manufactures don't want
to sell slow machines.

Rubbish. My Vista laptop is as fast if not faster than my XP machine....
2. Microsoft it self is so mortified by the slow performance of Vista
that they are talking about introducing a new OS next year.

Agaain rubbish. They ARE talking about a new version of Windows, but
certainly NOT "next year"! Where on EARTH did you get that garbage from?
3. It is physically impossible for Vista to run as fast as Mac because
they use the same chips and Vista devotes most of its memory watching
the computer user.

Presumably you are talking about superfetch? I suggest you do some serious
reading of the technical specs of superfetch before you spout such garbage.
Currently, Microsoft penalizes Vista users who fail to activate their

XP has the same.....so what's new?

This is a piracy prevention function. If you don't like it, then don't buy
Windows.

There's holes in your tinfoil hat - better slap another couple of layers on!

"I don't own a Mac but I bought a Vista machine from Dell. I asked to

Companies like DELL do tend to put a lot of "junkware" on PC and I get the feeling it slows them
down. This may be especially true for Vista since it requires more memory than XP just for itself.

My advice is to remove some of the junkware and see if the machine gets faster.

Also, when you say that it ran slow, do you mean it was slow to boot up, that programmes were slow
to launch, or that when a programme was actually running it was slow?

I am running Vista on a family-like desktop pc, using a amd athlon 4800+
processor, 2 gb memory, and it runs like a formula-1 racing car.
Take your advantage of it.
Greatings.

Facts?

More like opinions.

#1: XP is still going strong because computer manufactures don't want
to sell slow machines. Not true. It is very hard to find a computer
maker that doesn't bundle their machines with Vista.

#2: Microsoft it self is so mortified by the slow performance of Vista
that they are talking about introducing a new OS next year. Also not
true. There is rumor that Microsoft may release a beta of Windows 7 next
year, but it's only rumors.

#3: It is physically impossible for Vista to run as fast as Mac because
they use the same chips and Vista devotes most of its memory watching
the computer user. Only 1/2 true. Mac OS is a more streamlined OS.
Vista is a more demanding OS in terms of resources (processor and
memory). But Vista does not phone home on everything you do, that is a
pure rumor without any basis in fact.

If you want to post "facts" about Vista, cite some authorities on the
issue. You're obviously having a poor experience with Vista. In my
experience, those that have poor experiences with Vista upgraded their
machines when they were barely capable of running Vista. If you liked XP
and want to stick with it fine. But please don't substitute your
opinions about Vista and try and pass them off as facts.

My .02

Sorry Joe, but your .02 isn't worth .01.

Would that be the space ship that you arrived on?

Ignorance is really bliss right Dave?

Just to get you up to speed, Microsoft has admitted more than once in
recent years that indeed it does ON A REGULAR BASIS spy on it's
customers in several ways with Windows phoning home the results to
Redmond. Check Google and you'll find hundreds of reports from
respected news media outlets on this activity. It isn't just Windows
either. Check what Microsoft is doing to Mac Users with Office 2008.

Er, what difference does that make to a righteous person?

But did OEMs force MS to let them sell ME or 2K after XP was released?

Nope. And those OS's weren't more than a couple years old at XP's release.

XP was nearly a six year old OS at Vista's release, a virtual dinosaur.
#2: Microsoft it self is so mortified by the slow performance of Vista
that they are talking about introducing a new OS next year. Also not
true. There is rumor that Microsoft may release a beta of Windows 7 next

But we have the email from MS own executives that were unhappy with
their own Vista experience.

And speaking of rumors, Bill Gates didn't mention a beta release.

"Sometime in the next year or so we will have a new version." - Bill Gates

New version, not new beta.

I agree, Vista does not phone home on everything you do, but it does
have technology that takes up resources that are totally useless to the
End User.
If you want to post "facts" about Vista, cite some authorities on the

You could try to do that too. What authority did you cite?

Yep, your opinion, not fact either. Same goes for my reply, except I
did quote a very valid source for Windows 7 info.

Depends on what you mean by a righteous person.

To me a righteous person cares less about themselves and is more
concerned about the plight of their fellow human beings.

So if one is truly righteous, one would be upset that people are having
their privacy invaded without the due process of law.

You don't have a clue about computers or how an operating system works,
do you? Is it possible you consumed too much alcohol or smoked something

Actually it is Microsoft that doesn't have a clue how a OS is suppose
to work judging from their total inability to release any version of
Windows in over 21 years that wasn't buggy as hell and didn't need
multiple patches, updates and never ending security updates.

Of course the dreeb squad that worships the ground Bill Gates and
Steve Balmer walk on, so you can't expect rational argument from such
a lame bunch of losers and computer illiterates. Yea, I'm talking
about the likes of clowns like CB, Frank et al.

Hey there, Butt Monkey. Some people don't judge their self-worth in
dollars, but by the content of their character.

Not the number of the characters they play on the Usenet either, Butt
Monkey.
